Dedicated to the memory of Tony Murtagh

This site is a tribute to Tony Murtagh. He is much loved and will always be remembered. All of us are connected to Tony, our dad, in someway: through Buttermere Avenue, Snaefell Terrace, St Beghs, Barrowmouth, St Bees, Fleswick, the Dog And Partridge, the dusty Miller, the Legion, Sandwith flying club, neighbourhood deliveries of freshly caught fish in beautiful cellophane that we kept in the airing cupboard in the bathroom - mackerel or cod, blackites, pickles, red cabbage. We’re hearing from people that we’ve not known about before - cousins and friends. Death is a salutary moment when we often more fully know the whole person, of who Tony Murtagh was - not knowing dad’s various connections with others, outside our immediate family, feels like a missed opportunity in some ways. But this is life, so let’s ponder that and perhaps reflect on who we are and who we belong to, and what matters and what is important after all. We all yearn to belong, be connected … don’t we? Let’s reflect, cherish and honour what he meant to each of us…and hear what he meant to others Please feel free to contribute a thought, a memory, something of your connection to our Dad Tony
